Remember the center character? I decided to revamp his design into more of a suave mobster kind of vibe.
On the left with the rifle/tommygun hybrid we have Cesar Gatto, the gunman, in the center we have Valentin Catrelli, the smooth talker (and brains), and on the right we have Spitz... just Spitz. Don't ask him for his real name, cuz he ain't tellin' you.
Why the hell are you so hard on yourself? What you've done is you've managed to create what every artist/writer want to create: an awesome story with awesome characters.
Seriously dude. You've got a very bright future ahead of you with art and that. There's something to be said about simplicity: It's the greatest sophistication. (Quoted from Leonardo da Vinci) Most writers just dump a whole load of backstory and expect the audience to eat it up. What you've done with the characters is you've just drawn them and only give a rough idea of who they are. That leaves the audience to see wherever they like the characters or not and if they do, they can make up their own little stories about them. It's the greatest pleasure of being the audience. Having a connection with these characters.
And I know this because out of all of the characters I've created: the simplest ones are the best.
Hope you liked my little lesson (which isn't all that original... ) So, good luck with this!
Hmm... never really thought of it that way before. Part of the reason I never really delve too deeply into the character background is that I want to portray that with storytelling, rather than a blunt description of it. Why simply call someone a sociopath, when you can paint the firey trail of his destruction?
...of course, I haven't really gotten around to writing anything yet, and it's quite possible I'll be too busy to ever do so. It's nice to finally have a justification for it
Thank you for the fresh perspective, I'll keep it in mind as I continue to develop this story-in-the-making. Hashing out all the details is something I'm always rethinking and revising; it's endless fuel for daydreams...
If I may throw in my 2 cents: If you dont be hard on yourself, you wont get any better. I do the same thing, and I have noticed that it does work. If you never be hard on what it is you do, what then motivates you to try harder or better?
he reminds me of the 1939 dr. watson from sherlock holmes... similar expression and "mustache"
catrelli looks like a casanova. he scares me most XD
for some reason, i want to glomp spitz. hes. just. so. cute.
in a wonderfully "imma gonna beat you up" kind of way"
xD i love Spitz's Eyes and his design Really Epic
Great Job
And awesome art as usual spy!
I'll add Goodfellas to my watch list, right next to "The Godfather" and "Pulp Fiction". I really gotta catch up on my pop cinema
